Wallace was born May 5, 1870 in Frederick County, Maryland to Jacob Joseph Joseph and Ann Rebecca Mossburg Wirts, Jr. He died March 22, 1930 in Adamstown, Maryland. He married Minnie America Thompson on June 30, 1892. She was born May 16, 1867 in Frederick County, Maryland and died April 22, 1947 in Adamstown. Both are buried in Saint Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Point of Rocks, Maryland.

Wallace Leon Virtz died at his home Adamstown, Saturday afternoon, 59 years of age. He was a well-known retired farmer and the son of Jacob and Rebecca Mossburg Virtz. He was born near Point of Rocks and engaged in farming until about four years ago, when he retired and moved to Adamstown. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Point of Rocks and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie A. Virtz, one son Emory L. Virtz near point of Rocks, and tow daughters, Mrs. George T. Stup and Mrs. Howard Sup, both of near Adamstown, and two brothers, Benjamin T. Virtz, Frederick, and William H. Virtz, Washington. Funeral Tuesday afternoon at 2 o?clock. Interment St. Paul?s cemetery near Point of Rocks. M. R. Etchison and Son funeral directors.
