      MISHAWAKA - Arthur E. Brown, 89, of Mishawaka, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, in his home. Art was born on January 24, 1919, in Mishawaka, to the late Lester and Margaret (Heminger) Brown. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert. On October 13, 1940, in Mishawaka, he married Loretta Jefferies, who still survives along with their children, Suzanne (Terry) Miltenberger of Mishawaka and Craig D. (Susan) Brown of Paducah, KY; four grandchildren, Lori Ann (Kurt) Zeiler, Wendy Sue (Joe) Hayes, Mark Brown and Megan Brown; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Zeiler, and Katharine Winnings. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold (Naomi) Brown and Donald Brown, both of Mishawaka. Mr. Brown graduated from Mishawaka High School, class of 1937. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Uniroyal for 39 years in maintenance before retiring in 1979. He was a very active member of Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, holding many positions within the church. He was a charter member of the North Penn Volunteer Fire Department and was active in the building of Penn High School and Elsie Rogers Elementary School. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, May 21, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, in the funeral home, with Rev. Sam Boys officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
