      MEADVILLE - Gladys S. Stover Shuman, 92, 557 Chestnut St., Meadville, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at her home. She was born in Hanes Township, Centre County, Sept. 19, 1903, daughter of the late McClelland Oscar and Mary Elizabeth Musser Stover. Mrs. Shuman was a graduate of Millheim High School, received her registered nurse's degree from Harrisburg Hospital in 1926, and was a member of the Golden Crown Chapter O.E.S., Meadville Country Club and the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club. She was also a member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, a former active member of Spencer Hospital Auxliary and of the Crawford County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and worked as a registered nurse in the Harrisburg area prior to moving to Meadville. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Womens Club and Widows Support Group. She was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H. "Doc" Shuman, who died May 15, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna M. Elston, on Feb. 24, 1992; and by two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include a son, Benjamin H. Shuman of West Hickory, Pa.; four daughters, Ruth H. Frederick of Homestead, Fla., Beth E. Elway of Vero Beach, Fla., Frances H. Rogers of Meadville and Mrs. Thomas (Joyce) Smith of Erie; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, George M. Stover of Millheim, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. Friend may call at the Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a service at Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Brian D. Moran, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be at Roselawn Mausoleum.
