- CORVIN APPLE, Jr. age 81, formerly of Lewisburg, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Pinehurst Nursing Facilities in Centerville, Indiana. He was born on July 13, 1927 in Montgomery County Ohio, son of the late Corvin & Martha Ermel Apple Sr. He was a 1945 graduate of Lewisburg Union High School, served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1949, retired in 1998 from Zumstein Trucking at Lewisburg, Ohio with over 50 years as a driver, member of the Million Mile Club, he was known as "Red Apple" or "Abe" by his friends, he had lived in the Lewisburg and Eaton area most of his life. Preceded in death by his wife of over 48 years, Ruthann Fink Apple on June 11, 1998, also by a brother, Willard R. Apple and a sister, Frances E. Stein.
Survived by a son, Robert "Rob" Apple, daughter and son-in-law, Lori Ann and Brian Stevens of Richmond, Indiana.
A special thank-you to the family of the late Josephine Hapner for being a family to him after the death of his wife Ruthann. The friendship and kindness gave him much joy and companionship. Special thanks to Hospice and the caring staff of Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Arlington cemetery at Brookville, Ohio with the Preble County Honor Gaurd providing Military Honors.
