- Larry E. Swope, 75, of Ranson, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Winchester, Va., Medical Center. Born Sept. 12, 1938, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of Kenneth Swope and Anna Mary (Ingram) Swope. Mr. Swope worked at Atlantic Food Company, Frederick, Md., as a salesperson. He also worked for Thomassen Ford as a salesman; and recently, worked at the Charles Town Races as a shuttle bus driver, where he loved playing country music on the shuttle bus. He was of the Baptist faith. Larry was a graduate of Brunswick, MD High School, class of 1956. He was a member of the Brunswick, MD Moose Lodge. Mr. Swope served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his sons, Wayne Barron and wife, Louise, of Summit Point and Glenn Barron and Sally Robertson, of Ranson; grandchildren, Christopher W. Barron, Kimberly Athey and Kevin Barron; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Barron; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Athey, Carly Athey and Narissa Barron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Swope, who died April 17, 2006. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, with Dr. Wyman Hall officiating. No visitation.
