- Chariton Leader, November 11, 1975
Kenneth Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Henderson, was born in Afton, Ia., January 25, 1908 and passed from this life at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, November 7, 1975 at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 7 days.
He was united in marriage to Helen May August 16, 1934. To this union two daughters were born, Mabeth May and Kay Joan. His infant daughter, Kay Joan, his parents and one sister, Pansy, preceded him in death.
He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Methodist Church in Chariton May 13, 1945. He had an abiding faith in God and always enjoyed the beauty of God's handiwork in the fields and the great outdoors.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Helen and his daughter, Mabeth and son-in-law, Clyde Oxenreider. Also two grandchildren, Chris and Trace, whom he adored. Two sisters, Mrs. Cleone Wilcox of Afton and Aldene Linden and husband Chuck of California, one brother, Keith Henderson and his wife Ruth of Afton.
Memorial services were conducted by Dr. Merrill D. Summerbell and the Rev. Roland Ritter at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 9, 1975 in the First United Methodist Church, Chariton. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Oakley.
