    • Elizabeth (Betty) W. Hackley, age 95 of Laurel, MD, died Thursday, March 27 after a prolonged illness. She was born Sep 8, 1918 in Monessen, PA and resided in the Laurel area since 1959. She was predeceased by her husband, Audley W. Hackley, her parents Frank and Cora Wiseman, brother Elmer Elliott, brothers Anthony, Frank (Bud) and William Wiseman, and sister Ruth Feightner. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Vince Hackley and Patricia Van Hoof, and her beloved granddaughters Elizabeth and Samantha, of Monrovia, MD, sister in-law Barbara Knight of Sanford, VA and brother in-law and sister in-law Frank and Darlene Hackley of Side Lake, MN, and many much loved nieces and nephews.

      Betty was a retired Assistant Vice-President of Equitable Trust Bank in Laurel, where she served many roles over the years including teller, loan officer, and branch manager. She was a past President of the National Association of Bank Women of Baltimore and the Laurel chapter. She was a Lector for many years at St. Mary's of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel. Her many volunteer activities included The Ladies of Charity, the Sanctuary Society, the Laurel Senior Friendship Club and the Laurel Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Her life was well lived and she touched many other lives along her journey.

      Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 2:00 '96 4:00 PM and 7:00 '96 9:00 PM at Donaldson's Funeral Home in Laurel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel, with Monsignor Mike Mellone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery
