Evelyn Bertella Ambrose, 85, of Knoxville, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va. She was born on January, 10, 1920 in Knoxville; the daughter of Howard W. and Lillian Virts Gosnell. She was a retired bus aide for 24 years with the Scott Key Center in Frederick. She also had worked at the old YMCA and B&O Railroad in Brunswick. She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick and later joined the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Gapland. She was a 1940 graduate of Brunswick High School. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136 at Brunswick, Carmans Lodge, the Degree of Pocahontas at Baltimore and Ladies Auxiliary of the Steadman-Kennan Post No. 96 of the American Legion at Brunswick. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mildred Gosnell of Lovettsville, Va.; one aunt and uncle, Pauline and Eurly Gosnell of Knoxville; two nieces, one nephew and many cousins. She will also be remembered by close friends, Willa and Gene McGaha, Clay Carey, Bill and Ina Stroupe, Joyce Utterback and Ann Feaster. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond N. Ambrose; one son, William "Butch" Ambrose, and two brothers, Millard Gosnell and Howard Gosnell. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Rd., Brunswick with the Rev. Wendell McClellan and the Rev. Douglas Strachan officiating. Interment will be in the Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville.
