      Mrs. Della Irene Virts, who resided at 12 James St., died suddenly at her residence on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20. Her husband, the late Roy Eugene Virts predeceased her in August, 1971.

      She was born in Frederick County on June 27, 1901, the daughter of the late George W. and Ella M. Covell Sheets.

      Surviving are: three sons, Austin Young, Charles Town, W. Va.; George Young, Hagerstown, and Francis Young, Heidelberg, Germany; one stepson, George F. Virts, Lovettsville, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Austin Rice, Frederick; Mrs. John Main, York, Pa., and Mrs. James Brown, Madison, Va., and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Walter Minnick, Silver Spring, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

      Mrs. Virts was a member of the First Baptist Church, Frederick.

      The family will receive friends at the smith, Fradeley, Keeney and Basford Funeral Home (formerly Etchison's), 106 East Church Street, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. the Rev. Burnis D. Barrett, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
