Notes - The following story is from the book "Loudoun County Families and
History" compiled by Jim Presgraves.
Samuel W. George was born in Loudoun County, Virginia, December 8, 1819, and has spent the years of his busy and useful life in the honorable and independent calling of a farmer in Lovettsville district. He married a native of the county, Eliza C. Grubb, born near Waterford, December 12, 1825. Their marriage rites were observed at the bride's residence, November 15, 1842, the Rev. Daniel Hawer, officiating clergyman. Seven children were born of it, and their names and residences are as follows: Elizabeth (Wenner), lives in this county; Laura G. (Wright), resides in Washington; John E., lives at home; Robert L., live in Loudoun County; Ashland C., lives near Wheatland, this county; Samuel D., and Ella E. live at home. The grandfather of Mr. George was John George, who emigrated from Germany and settled in Loudoun County, on Dutchman Creek, at an early date in the history of the county. His wife died, leaving two children, John and Elizabeth. A part of the land he settled on is now the Farm of Samuel W. George. The father of Samuel W. was also named John. He died in 1860, his wife, who was Elizabeth Smith, having died in 1821. The wife of Samuel W. George was a daughter of Ebenezer and Leah (Virts) Grubb, who descended from families identified with the best interests of Loudoun County. Her father, who served some time in the War of 1812, died in 1875, and her mother in 1869. Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia is the post office address of Samuel W. George.
