Mr. Russell W. Schroyer, 93, Middletown, passed away peacefully at his home on June 8. He was the husband of the Catherine Loudell Tritapoe Schroyer who preceded him in death in 2011.
Born February 11, 1920 in Middletown he was a son of the late Jacob Howard and Mary Rosanna Palmer Schroyer.
Mr. Schroyer was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro.
He was a farmer in his early days; drove a milk truck for a short time; worked at HC Summers Co.in Jefferson.
He then opened his own business called Valley Garage at his home and was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his three daughters, Mary Jane King and son-in-law Irvin of Charles Town, WV, Catherine Darlene Hartman of Jefferson and Joyce Mae Smith of Sioux City, IA
Also surviving are one brother - Elvin J. Schroyer and wife Dorothy of Middletown; two sisters - Naomi F. Moser, of Frederick, and Leah C. Schroyer, of Middletown; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a son Russell W. Schroyer Jr., two sons-in- law Rev. Drew A. Smith, Clark J. Hartman and two nephews.
Friends may call 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday June 11 at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Wednesday June 12 at Victory Baptist Church, 8104 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Pastor Aaron Hartman, his grandson, will be officiating. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
