Mrs. Elizabeth Carmichael Smith, wife of Rev. W. D. Smith, of Winchester, formerly rector of St. Geroge Church, of this city, died at her home in Winchester Tuesday after a protracted illness. The deceased had been a wife for about a year. She was the oldest daughter of the late Dr. Spottswood Wellford Carmichael. She was born and spent her life in Fredericksburg until her marriage. She was a woman of rare Christian virtues, ever foremost in church work and beloved by a large circle of friends in and out of her church, who will ever cherish her memory. Her husband, two brothers Dr. Randolph B. Carmichael, of Washington, and C. B. Carmichael, of Philadelphia, and two sisters, Miss Nellie Carmichael and Miss Fannie Tucker Carmichael survive her.
The remains will be brought here Thursday morning. Funeral form Carmichael residence on Hanover street at 4 p.m.
