Mr. Melvin Lee Compher, 87, of Lovettsville, Va., died Tuesday, May 25, at his residence.
He was the husband of Dorothy Louise Compher.
Born May 8, 1912, in Leesburg, Va., he was a son of the late Clark Linden and Lena Mary Lee Compher.
His family moved to Lovettsville when he was 10 years old. He lived and farmed there for the rest of his life.
He was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.
His interests were his farm and his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Betty L. Hale and Sue Borjas, both of Lovettsville, and Tanya Braithwaite of Upperville, Va.; two sons, Samuel L. Compher of Lovettsville, and Charles Palmer of Tennessee; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Tartaglino; and one brother, Clifford Compher.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Brown Funeral Home, Lovettsville.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Lovettsville. The Rev. Lynn Wilbur will officiate.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Lovettsville.
Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to Hospice of Norhtern Virginia or to the Memorial Fund of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Lovettsville
