    • Paul Kenneth Beattie, 95, of Jackson died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

      He was born Nov. 3, 1917, in Jackson to John Albert and Eunice Lillian Hinkle Beattie.

      Paul graduated from Jackson High School where he was a member of the football team that was undefeated and unscored on in a single season.

      He was married to Thelma Irene Moore on Nov. 5, 1938. She died Aug. 3, 1989.

      Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a parachute packer and was in a support crew for the P-47 Fighter in France.

      He was an avid fisherman, spending much of his time at Duck Creek. He and his wife owned and operated Jackson Cleaning Co. from 1946 to 1980. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158.

      Survivors include three sons, Don (Diana) Beattie, Jim Beattie and Tom (Lisa) Beattie, all of Jackson; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; and a brother, Albert LeRoy Beattie.

      Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.

      The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors.
