    • Mrs. Sandra "Sandy" Jean Sayler Wivell, 51, of Taneytown, died Thursday, May 30, at her home.

      She was the wife of Sam Wivell, her husband of 32 years.

      Born Nov. 5, 1950, in Gettysburg, Pa., she was a daughter of Margaret Clem Sayler of Thurmont, and the late Harry C. Sayler.

      Mrs. Wivell attended Graceham Moravian Church, Thurmont.

      She was a 1968 graduate of Emmitsburg High School, and was raised in Rocky Ridge.

      She was previously employed with Fredericktown Bank & Trust Co., and Taneytown Bank & Trust. Later she stayed at home raising her family and was secretary for her husband's business, Samuel K. Wivell Builders.

      Mrs. Wivell's hobbies included sewing, craft projects and gardening.

      Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are one daughter, Stephanie Harrington and husband Paul of Emmitsburg; one son, Shane Wivell at home; two sisters, Frances Angleberger of Thurmont, and Louis Layman and husband Robert of Rocky Ridge; two nieces, Brenda Layman, and Karen S. McAfee and husband Jeff; one nephew, Bryon Layman; great-niece and great-nephew, Ashley and Justin McAfee; five sisters-in-law; and 11 brothers-in-law.

      Mrs. Wivell was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Allen Angleberger.

      The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont.

      Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, at Graceham Moravian Church, Thurmont, with the Rev. Jeff Gehris officiating.

      Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont, Md. 21788; or Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Ave., Frederick, Md. 21701.
