He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 as a tank driver with the 736th tank battalion. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha. A graveside service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery near Rittman on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends should meet at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville at 10:00 a.m. for procession to the cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Auble Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Thomas officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Service, Hospice & Palliative Care, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333, or the charity of the donors choice.
