      J. K. (Kelly) Ross, 70 year-old stockman of Rt. 1, Direct, died Monday night about 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital, of injuries incurred when his horse stumbled and fell with him Sunday. He was thrown against a stump and the horse fell on him, causing abdominal injuries which resulted in death.

      He had been a stock raiser a number of years, in the Maxey and Tigertown vicinity. He was born Jan. 29, 1876, in Alabama.

      Funeral arrangements were unsettled Tuesday, awaiting arrival of two sons from California and burial will be made in Tigertown Cemetery.

      Surviving are Mrs. Ross and three sons, C. E. Ross and C. W. Ross, Dorris, Calif., and J. E. Ross, United States Army, England; four brothers and a sister: William Ross and Mrs. Annie Philips, Thomaston, Ala.; Scott Wilson, Prattsville, Ala.; Arthur Ross, Broken Bow, Okla., and V. D. Ross, Paris, and four grandchildren. A fourth son, Wiley (Jack) Ross, was killed in action in France, Dec. 8, 1944.
