Sylvia Wertz Webb, 92, formerly of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2011. She lived most of her life in Roanoke and moved to Messiah Village Retirement Home in Mechanicsburg, Pa. in 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Webb; father, Newton Hezekiah Wertz, and mother, Oakie Deweese Wertz; four brothers, Harry, Wilbert, John and Roy Wertz; and four sisters, Ethel Sowder, Kate Long, Edith Camper and Violet Abele. She is survived by one sister, Katherine Agee; sisters-in-law, Pearl and Jane Wertz, all of Roanoke; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Norma Webb, of Greensboro, N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ted Hare, of Dillsburg, Pa.; four grandchildren, Darren Webb and his wife, Michelle, Travis Webb and wife, Aaron, all of Greensboro, N.C., Brian Hare and wife, Bridget, and Angela Hare, all from Pennsylvania; and seven great-grandchildren. She worked for Plastic Products Co. for many years. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Salem for all of her life and was a faithful worker in that church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with Pastor Edward C. Woodard officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Messiah Village Endowment Fund, 100 Mt. Allen Dr., Mechanisburg, PA 17055.
