      Mrs. Mildred Blanche Virts, 85, a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, formerly of 428 Logan St., Frederick, died Thursday, July 3, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of George A. Virts, who died April 1988. Born Nov. 8, 1917, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Leslie G. and Elsie G. Heffner Gross. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick. Surviving are four children, George A. Virts Jr. and wife Patricia of Everett, Pa., and Barbara A. Grimes and husband Charles, Mary L. Krepps and husband Guifford, and Franklin E. Virts and wife Bonnie, all of Frederick; three brothers, Carroll L. Gross and Donald A. Gross, both of Westminster, and Meredith E. Gross of Taneytown; two sisters, Mary Harrison of Frederick, and Katherine Kramer of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Steven W. Virts, Lora L. Lesh, Benjamin L. Krepps, Dawn L. Hahn and Michael E. Virts; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher Virts, Rachel Alley, Rebecca Lesh, Andrew Lesh, Steven Lesh, Amy Lesh, Anna Lesh, Timothy Ford and Brandon Hahn; one great-great-grandson, Judah Michael Alley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Mathew Virts. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roland Hobbs officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
