Alice A. Virts was born January 15, 1848 to Jacob Joseph and Ann Rebecca Mossburg Wirts, Jr. She died on December 1, 1911 in Thurston, Maryland. She married Jacob C. Hartman on March 7, 1865. Alice and her husband are buried in Saint Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Point of Rocks, Maryland.

Mrs. Alice S. Hartman, aged 63 years died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bartlett, of Thurston, Friday of acute indigestion. The funeral took place Monday at 11 o'clock a.m. at the Lutheran church at Point of Rocks. Rev. L. F. Warner, of Buckeystown conducted the services. The pallbearers were G. W. Lilley, J. B. Watts, J. Stanley, H. S. Walker, J. W. Storb and J. M. Baker. Interment was made in the cemetery at the Episcopal church, near the town. Geo. W. Peters was the funeral director.
