- Walter C. Williams, 68, widely known retired farmer, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday at his residence, 652 N. Elm St.
For 15 years he served as treasurer of the Preachers Aid Society of what was formerly the Methodist-Protestant Church in this city. After union of the Methodist churches he continued his interest in the PAS until the time of his death.
He was currently president of the district missionary society and at various times served as delegate to general and jurisdictional conferences. Mr. Williams was also past district lay leader and a member of the board of trustees of the Main St. Methodist Church. He had served there in various other capacities.
Before joining the Main Street Methodist Church in 1933, he was a member of the Union Chapel Church. He was a member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and the Eastern Indiana Livestock Breeders Association, and was an active member of the Muncie Chapter of the Barbershop Quartet. For 23 years he drove a school bus.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Main Street Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Albert Clarke, assisted by the Reverend Jesse Fox, district superintendent, and the Reverend H.R. Carson. Burial will be in the family lot at Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Meeks Mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday or at the church one hour before services.
Survivors include the widow, Cora May; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Antrim of Sandusky, Mich., and Mrs. John Shroyer of Muncie; and two brothers, Claude and Clinton of Delaware County.
