- Reno Gazette-Journal, May 31, 2015
Patricia Virts was born July 1, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from South Side High School, where she was the Band Majorette, a baton master, and met and married the love of her life, Don Virts. She attended Franklin College and was the proud and loving mother of three sons. Pat was always very athletic and she ran and swam a mile daily, was an avid dancer, and excelled at sewing. She loved people and animals, volunteering at local hospitals throughout her life. After retirement, Don and Pat moved to Florida, California and then to Reno, Nevada where Pat volunteered for 16 years at the Spanish Services Center at Renown Medical Center, receiving many awards for her efforts to assist patients and staff. After Don died Pat moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills to be close to her son and daughter-in-law, and she became active at Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln, CA. She enjoyed participating in many activities in Sun City including Readers Theater, Tai Chi, Tuesday Spanish group and ceramics, while continuing her swimming and exercise routines.
On Thursday, May 21st, Pat fell on her way to the gym, proceeded with one last work out, but then suffered a fatal complication from the fall and passed away. She is survived by her three sons, Brent, Mark and Kip, daughter-in-law Melissa, her sister Gloria, niece Debbie and husband Doug, nephew Dennis and wife Laurie, and her little kitty Minx. She will be dearly missed. Pat requested no services and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Grace Lutheran Church, or to your favorite charity sincere to your heart and loved ones.
