      ASTORIA - Ethel Mae Stephens, 81, of 9662 East Morning Star Highway, Astoria, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 23, 2006) at Mason District Hospital in Havana. Born July 5, 1925, at Astoria, the daughter of Dean and Estella (Elgin) Waggoner, she married J. William Stephens on Nov. 26, 1946, at Canton. He survives. Other survivors include one son, William (Cindy) Stephens of Industry; one daughter, Marcia (Jon) Breeden of Troy; two granddaughters, Jaimee (Jeff) Steele of Astoria and Jenna Stephens of Industry; one great-grandson, Austin Steele of Astoria; one brother, Jack (Pat) Waggoner of Macomb; and one sister, Lois Walker of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a Registered Nurse for many years. She was a member of the Graham Hospital Alumni Association, Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of Magna Charta Dames Illinois Division, and a member of the former United Brethren Church of Astoria. Services were held at 2 p.m., December 26, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Burial was at Astoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Graham Hospital School of Nursing in Canton.
