Kenneth Johnson Mackley, 77, of 1291 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday February 10, 2002 at his home. Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Earl Mackley and Grace Johnson Mackley Cove. He was a 1940 graduate of Hagerstown High School, a 1949 graduate of Dickinson College and a 1949 graduate of University of Maryland Law School. He also studied abroad at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He worked for the U.S. Air Force at Fairchild Aircraft as a contracting assistant, where he served as division counsel. Later, he resumed practicing law with Paul Ottinger, Mackley and Gilbert, in which he later became the senior partner until withdrawing at the end of 1995. He retired in December 1998. He was also a part-time instructor in business law at Hagerstown Junior College. He served in Gen. Patton's Third Army in Europe during World War II and served as an Army Judge Advocate Office in Germany doing trail work with the 2nd Armored Division. He was member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Corrine L. Mackley; three daughters, Heidi Mackley of Hagerstown, Marlene Waller of Frederick, Md., and Michelle Testani of Catonsville, Md.; one son, Erich Mackley of Hagerstown; three stepdaughters, Marcia Mackley, Robin Dickerson and Denise Hovermale, all of Hagerstown; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Garth B. Mackley. Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m at First Christian Church, Hagerstown. The Revs. Fred Harris and Benjamin Jones will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation or viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to B'Nai Abraham Sisterhood for the Hadassha Tree Fund, 53 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
