      Mrs. Edith Estelle Simms, 87, of Germantown, died Thursday, Aug. 23, at her home, of cancer.

      She was the wife of the late Forrest Simms Sr.

      Born April 2, 1914, in Gaithersburg, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Della Reed Frye.

      Mrs. Simms was a homemaker.

      Surviving are seven children, Edna Robbins of Colorado, Betty Pollen of Gaithersburg, Jean Davidson of Rockville, Jimmy Simms of Florida, and Forrest Simms Jr., Donald Simms and Patty Baker, all of Germantown; 32 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

      Mrs. Simms was preceded in death by two children, Billy Simms and Nancy Dunn.

      Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28.

      Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
