Mrs. Virginia A. Walker, 61, of Jefferson, MD., passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of Anthony J. "Tony" Walker, her husband of 42+ years.
Born January 13, 1950 in Frederick, MD., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Nellie Virginia Kidwiler Hartman.
Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Brunswick High School class of 1968 and was in many school activities including being chosen for the "All County Band." She retired after 24 years of service, as a Purchasing Agent from the Department of the Army, Ft. Detrick, USAMRIID, and the National Institute of Health. Virginia was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America - Court Mary Francis, Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1136 Auxillary, Red Hat Society, and Merryland Homemakers. She enjoyed playing women's softball, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Jenifer Kidwell and husband Carl "Tev" of Pleasant Valley and Susan White and husband Eric "Whitey" of Brunswick, five grandchildren: Justin Hitchcock, Tiffany White, Nicholas Kidwell, Carly Kidwell and Hayden White, her siblings Carol Ann Hartman-Rowe of Frederick, Joseph Franklin Hartman and wife Pam of Georgetown, SC, Daniel Virts Hartman and wife Janie of Brunswick, sister-in-law Judy Walker-Florance of Chesapeake, VA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Catherine Walker and brother-in-law Gerald L. Walker. She will be remembered by many friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Avenue, Brunswick on Tuesday, April 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:00 am from St. Mary's Catholic Church, 4231 Catholic Church Road, Petersville, MD. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Justin Hitchcock, Eric White, Tev Kidwell, David Hartman, Chad Hartman and Shannon Hartman.
