- "Memorial services for former Rainier-Clatskanie area resident, Chester Andrew Heman, late of Portland, will be held Saturday at 11 am at Central Christian Church, 1844 SE 19th in Portland. An internment ceremony will be held April 2 at 1 pm at Woodbine Cemetery in Rainier. Mr Heman died of a stroke March 13 in a Portland hospital. He was 85.
He was born Aug 7 1908 in Portland to Andrew P and Minnie Parcher Heman. He spent his early years in the Rainier-Clatskanie area where he logged and drove trucks. He later went to work for Portland Traction Co., now Tri-Met, where he worked for 30 years as a bus driver. After he retired in 1972, Mr Heman served for seven years as caretaker at the Oral Hull Park for the Blind in Sandy, Oregon. Mr Heman served in the US Marine Coprs from 1926 until 1930.
He married his frist wife, Dorothy Kellar, on March 31 1935. He and his second wife, Laua Boyles, were married March 3, 1953 Beside his second wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donnajean Davis of Portland; step-daughter, Marcia Mathieu of Portland [Oregon] and step-sons, Larry, Grant and David Boyles. all of Portland; brother, Donald of Mapleton and Daniel of Portland; sisters, Frances Wallace of Port Orford [Washington] and Florence Eichler of Eugene [Oregon]; uncle, Harvey Parcher of Rainier, eight granchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephew. The family suggests remembrances to be contritution to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 2727. Hungtington Beach, CA."
