| Notes |
- Below information was added by Judy Johnson on the "Find A Grave" memorial website.
Rena was my (Judy Johnson) maternal Great Grandmother. She was the daughter of James & Elizabeth (Trottman) Barnes. She married John Harvey Flett near Rolla on 14 March 1877; he had emigrated from the Orkney Islands, Scotland in 1868. They had 5 children--4 daughters: Mary Eliz.(Minnie), Vivia Grace, Serena Maude, and Anna Eunice; 1 son: James Harvey. Rena was killed in a tornado in 1917, when it struck and destroyed their house. Their son, James Harvey (my Granddad) was on his horse in a nearby field helping his Dad to drive cattle to the barn, when the tornado struck. They dismounted and held onto trees to keep from being blown away. Arriving at the house, they saw the disaster and tragedy.
