The following story is from the book "Loudoun County Families and History" compiled by Jim Presgraves.
Robert L. George is a son of Samuel W. and Eliza Catherine Grubb George, and an interesting history of his family will be found in the sketch following this. May 1, 1873, the Rev. Alfred Buhrman joined in wedlock Robert L. George and Florence J. Near, and the birth of two children further cement this marriage bond. They are: Roy D., born September 25, 1875, and Elnora Eliza, November 6, 1878. The wife of Robert L. George was born in Cumberland County, Maryland, January 6, 1853, a daughter of Thomas and Elnora K. Johnson Near. Her father's family is from New York State, and he mother's are Maryland people. Her mother's father was a soldier in the war of 1812, and was wounded in the service. Mrs. George became a member of the Reform Church in 1877, under the ministry of Rev. H. S. J. Rinker. The occupation of Robert l. George is farming, and his address is Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia.
