Mr. Alan W. Everhart, 52, of Speedwell, Va., and formerly of Lovettsville, Va., died Wednesday, April 17, at his home after a long illness with multiple sclerosis. He was the husband of Karen Everhart. Born April 27, 1949, in Leesburg, Va., he was the son of the late Walter and Izola Everhart. He attended Lovettsville Elementary School and Loudoun Valley High School. He owned and operated Blue Ridge Counseling Service Inc. in Wytheville, Va. and in Bristol, Va. He formerly farmed in the Lovettsville and Upperville, Va. areas for many years. He was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Lovettsville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Samantha and husband Jeff of Columbus, Miss.; one son, Alan Everhart and wife Bobbie of Wytheville, Va.; one stepdaughter, Cassa Lynly Jarris of Wytheville; two grandchildren, Morgan and Cindy of Columbus; one brother, Tommy Everhart and wife Pat of Wytheville. He will also be remembered by his friend and care provider, Phil Bennett of Wytheville. He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Amanda Jarris. A funeral service was held Friday, April 19, at Gillam Funeral Chapel in Wytheville. Bearers were Bobby Fleming, Fred Lee George III, Kenny McClain, John Rickard, Frankie Jewell, Chad Fox, Starling Jennings and Everett Hovack. Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cripple Creek, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Home Health and Hospice or Rural Retreat, Va. 24368.
