      Maude Gass Glasscock, 87, of Hendersonville died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Alterra Clare Bridge.

      A native of Hamblin County, Tenn., she lived in Brentwood and Edgewater, Md., prior to moving to Henderson County in 1985.

      She worked for the Naval Research Laboratory and the National Science Foundation and retired as a management analyst following a total of 25 years with the companies. She was a volunteer in social work in Brentwood and was president of the Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of French Broad Baptist Church and was extensively involved with the Bicentennial Committee of the church.

      Her husband, Fred M. Glasscock, died in 1989.

      She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Dorothy L. and Terry Bolyard of Davidsonville, Md.; her grandson, William Lee Bolyard and his wife, Heather, of Edgewater, Md.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Grissom of Nashville, Tenn., and Gladys Tallent of Maryville, Tenn.; her brother, Dr. Marvin B. Gass Jr. of Maryville, Tenn.; her nephew, Paul Lung Jr. and his wife, Norma, of Hendersonville; and several other nieces and nephews.

      A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Thos. Shepherd's Church St. Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Marvin B. Gass Jr. will officiate.

      Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors.
