      Mrs. Norma Geraldine Darr Wathen, 81, of Frederick, formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Sunday, Nov. 4, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

      She was the wife of Oscar Wathen, who died December 1975.

      Born June 11, 1920, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of Henry F. and Mary Furtney Darr.

      She was a 1937 graduate of Charles Town High School. From 1936 to 1937 she was the Fall Festival Queen at the school. She was also a member of the women's basketball team.

      She worked for Compliance Corp., Lexington Park, and previously she was employed with General Electric Corp., Bethesda; Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown; and Community Oil Co., Charles Town.

      She was a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church, Frederick, and a former member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Charles Town, where she served as the church pianist for more than 20 years.

      She was a former member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1028, Charles Town.

      She is survived by one son, Larry Edward Jones and wife Rebecca of Frederick; one grandson, Kenneth Jones; one granddaughter; and one sister, Kathryn D. Petrucci of Charles Town.

      She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy A. Grubbs and Gladys Ruth Rogers.

      Friends may call at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m.

      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon officiating.

      Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
