- Ruth J. (Estling) Seery, 88, of 1116 Forest Dr. SE, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Higley Mansion Care Center following a short illness. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastoral Assistant Ken Graham of the Center Point United Methodist Church will officiate. Graveside services and interment at 1:30 PM Saturday at Campton Oak Hill Cemetery in Lamont, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons Dennis (Connie) Estling of Center Point, Iowa, Terry (Christine) Estling of Friendswood, Texas, and Tim (Lois) Estling of Shellsburg, Iowa, five grandchildren, Cody, Casey, Wendy, Jenny, and Chris, eight great grandchildren, Ben, Ryan, Noah, Cayle, Grace, Alex, Isabel, and Casey, and her lifelong friend Mary Pusateri of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Hazel Nowlin Verts, her first husband Lester "Jess" Estling, her second husband Joseph Seery, and two grandsons Jason and Chad Estling.
Ruth was born July 1, 1921, in Bloomfield, Iowa. She had been employed by Armstrong's Department Store, and Collins Radio. She was a beautician, and homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, and caring for her family especially her grand and great grandchildren.
Ruth's family wishes special thanks to Mercy Medical Center staff, Hospice of Mercy, Dr. Sheeley and staff, Higley Mansion Care Center, Father Christopher Podhajsky, Tom Hennessey, and Pastoral Assistant Ken Graham.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
