Mrs. Catherine Wenner, 92, of Lovettsville, Va., passed away peacefully Monday, April 19, 2010, at Northhampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick.
She was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Lovettsville, to the late Lloyd Raymond and Elizabeth Connor Virts. She was also predeceased by her husband, George F. Wenner, on Oct. 29, 1989; her dear son, Thomas Wenner, on Nov. 10, 2009; and her only brother, Wilmuth Virts.
Mrs. Wenner was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Lovettsville. She regularly attended the Lovettsville Senior Citizen activities, the Purcellville Area Agency on Aging luncheons and special events with her many friends. She also enjoyed going on many trips.
Mrs. Wenner and her husband farmed for many years. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She also loved to bake, cook and arrange dried flowers for various bazaars and fairs. Above all else, she was devoted to her family and enjoyed the role of being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy Wenner Orndorff and husband, Bernard, with whom she resided for 11 years in Lovettsville; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Huffman Wenner of Lovettsville; five grandchildren, Jerry Orndorff and wife, Gaynelle, and Kenny Orndorff, all of Lovettsville, Cynthia Orndorff Cramer and husband, Gary, of McHenry, Todd Wenner of Charles Town, W.Va., and Kelly Wenner of Brunswick; and 15 great-grandchildren, Laura, Rachel and Charlee Cramer, Daniel, Lindsey, Jarrett, Nathan and Ty Orndorff, and Kendra, Jacob, Layla, Johnathan, Michaela, Joshua and Nathaniel Wenner. Many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends also survive her.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Brown-Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 34 E. Broad Way, Lovettsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, 11791 Mountain Road, Lovettsville.
