Alvie William Wertz, 85, of Salem, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Adolphina M. Wertz. Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Doris A. Lilley; son, Timothy O. Wertz; grandchildren, Alvie R. Lilley, Barbarallen A. Kitchen, and Lauren R. Wertz;
greatgrandchildren, Kimberley M. Corkran, Travis W. Lilley, Amanda D. Kitchen, and Kristen M. Lilley, greatgreat-grandchildren, Katelynn E. Corkran and Emily M. Corkran; sister, Alice Cooper, and brothers, Gordon Wertz and James Wertz. A private family viewing and funeral was held on Saturday September 18, 2010 with Chaplain Roger Graves officiating. Interment followed in Peters Creek Cemetery, Roanoke, Va. The Wertz family was served by Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1609 Peters Creek Rd., N.W., Roanoke, Va., 540-562-1182."Making the Necessary Affordable"
