  • Notes
    • Marsha Ellen Kilmer, 58, passed quietly in her sleep on Wednesday (Sept. 14, 2005) at home. She was the wife of 29 years to Kenneth W. Kilmer.
Born March 19, 1947, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Helen (Kuglish) Boltas.

Marsha led a life full of many dreams and wishes we all hope for. A child of the sixties, she was in San Francisco in the summer of love; in the front rows of Woodstock; and interviewed Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix for the underground New York paper, Crawdaddy.

She became a leading stained glass artist with large commercial commissions, doing church window restorations and pieces featured in New York galleries. She turned to goat herding and single-handedly ran a goat dairy, milking 175 does twice a day. With her husband, she provided all the family food for two years from a small farmstead she ran.

In her mid-forties, she graduated first in her class from the Hanover LPN program and went on to work for a Johns Hopkins clinic in Baltimore. Struck by hepatitis C, she spent the next eight years in bed but fought her way back to health and a full life. Her last years were devoted to the final dream of every young girl, the love of horses. She died at home surrounded by those that loved her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, John Boltas of Baptistown.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined. The Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, Pa., is assisting the family with arrangements.
